Privacy Policy

In short: I only collect what I need to answer your enquiry, photograph your event or print your order. I don't sell your information, and you can ask me to see, correct or delete it at any time.

Who I am

Just Joy Imaging is a photography and printing business in Ottawa, Ontario, run by Joy Covey. In this policy, "I" and "me" mean Just Joy Imaging. If you have any questions about your information, email me at justjoyimaging@gmail.com.

What I collect

  • When you contact me about an event or wedding: your name, email address and the details you choose to share about your event.
  • When you order prints: your name, email address, the photos you upload, the sizes and papers you choose, and your shipping address if you'd like your order shipped.
  • When you visit the website: basic information about how the site is used, such as pages viewed, the type of device and browser, and roughly where visits come from. This is collected with cookies through Google Analytics and Squarespace.

I don't collect payment card details on this website. Payment is made by e-transfer, cheque or cash after I confirm your order.

How I use it

  • To reply to your enquiry, check my availability and plan your event.
  • To print, prepare and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
  • To understand how the website is used, so I can improve it.

I don't sell or rent your information, and I don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be added.

Your photos

Photos you upload for printing are used only to print your order. I delete them 60 days after your order is complete, unless you ask me to keep them for reprints.

Photos I take at events and weddings

Photos from events and weddings may appear on this website and my social media to show my work, as set out in each client's agreement. If you appear in a photo on this site and would like it removed, email me and I'll take it down.

Who I share it with

I use a small number of trusted services to run my business. They handle information on my behalf and only as needed:

  • Squarespace, which hosts this website and its forms.
  • Google, for email (Gmail) and website statistics (Google Analytics).
  • Pixieset, which hosts client photo galleries.
  • Shipping carriers, who receive your name and address when an order is shipped.

Some of these services store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. I don't share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Cookies

This website uses cookies so it works properly and so I can see how it's used through Google Analytics. You can choose to decline non-essential cookies using the banner on the site, or block cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry emails and order details for as long as I need them to provide my services. Order records are kept for 7 years for tax purposes.

Keeping it safe

I use secure, password-protected accounts and reputable service providers to protect your information. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect it.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, unless I need to keep it for legal or accounting reasons. Email me at justjoyimaging@gmail.com and I'll reply within 30 days.

If you have a concern I haven't resolved, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes to this policy

If I make changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
