Happy Easter, Everyone!
I know I am saying this late but man, our weekend was amazing but packed with family food and all the goodness and celebration of life that happens on Easter! I wanted to blog but couldn't find the time so here I am blogging now!
I hope everyone stayed safe, ate way too much and had lots of chocolate!!
We were actually looking into it over the weekend to see what the Easter bunny and chocolate eggs had to do with the real reason Easter... upon researching it surprisingly, they have nothing to do with the original reason for Easter which is the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We did, however, find this hilarious monologue by Jimmy Kimmell about Easter that had us in stitches:
"The real story of Easter is Jesus came down to earth, taught us to help the poor, love our enemies, so we killed him. Then he came back, why he came back, I don't know, it's not like we made him feel very welcome the first time, but that is the story."
How accurate is that?! My stomach hurt I was laughing so hard at that description!
In a traditional standpoint, the Easter Bunny has nothing to do with Jesus, but that they use to think that hairs could have immaculate conceptions (Jesus' birth not death) and the eggs were brought about because the Church use to fast eggs during lent and would boil them to save them during their time of fasting and eat them on Easter! So there is some connection! Overall, the tradition came from the church but really cannot be boiled down (pun intended) to how a bunny and eggs have any correlation with the celebration of the Passover weekend! I just love that we get to eat all this chocolate this time of year and not feel bad because it is just a part of Easter!
Overall, our weekend was so busy but so good. We updated our family photos as you can see above, I even photoshopped a certain family member into the photos as they were unable to be there for our family dinner on Good Friday! It was great fun to see everyone, play around with my two adorable nieces and ever growing nephew and have some amazing laughs and great food!
Spring is honestly my favourite time of year! The birds singing strong, the buds and flowers starting to peek out and the sun slowly warming the earth! I also love that engagement sessions and family sessions are coming up as the weather turns beautiful and the flowers go into full bloom and before we know it, wedding season!! I am so excited to see all the love that is growing this year!
I hope you all have a great weekend this weekend and stay safe and enjoy this gorgeous weather, even though cloudy today! Several projects are brewing these days so staying busy! More to come soon!
