Good morning, Everyone!
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read this blog! It has been a very busy year for me as I know with all of you as well. Time seems to be flying by and life only gets better as each day passes.
I have not really blogged about what is happening with me lately as I want to keep you updated on all that Just Joy is doing but also that it has been hard to define what I am doing. So here it goes to try and explain and tell you of this great adventure I have been on.
This summer was amazing. I was in university all summer long, the program I am taking to obtain my degree in photography is a 16-month condescend course load. Each term is 3 months and then a month off for a break and then back in for the next 3 months. This happens four times. I started this program Thanksgiving weekend last year and I am finishing my Degree Essay of 6,000 words the day before Christmas Eve, so in 19 days... and my Degree Major Project, which is my portfolio portion, on January 20th. I cannot believe I am almost done. It has been a continual process of homework, research, discovery and learning and I am a little sad to have it end as I do enjoy school, but then who am I kidding, I am so excited to no longer have homework at this!
This program has taught me so much. I have learned the process of a photograph in a deeper way. My Degree Major Project is a cumulative project that I have been working on since the beginning and am just bringing it together now. I have learned how to create, present and execute a project that has meaning and purpose in each stay of the process. This project will be released in the spring and I look forward to sharing it with you!
As for Just Joy Imaging, we have continued to expand in so many ways as well! Working with people is the greatest pleasure! From weddings to family reunions to 50th wedding anniversaries to family albums, we have had the privilege of creating beautiful memories together! I also taught my very first Summer Club for 8-11-year-olds at a local church in Brockville. It was an exciting week of sharing my love of photography with some really amazing kids! And as you have seen blogs and stories, Just Joy expanded into printing! Wow! It has been amazing! To take an image from your computer and put it up on your wall is absolutely amazing. As that side of the businesses has grown, I have also participated in my first craft show this fall and loved the experience of meeting new people and selling artwork. It was a great connection to the community!
As for Algonquin College, I worked again this year as their Teachers Assistant at the Photography Program. It is an absolute privilege to get to be able to work alongside such amazing professors and help to teach and share the passion of photography to the up and coming photographers. To have been a student not so long ago to now helping students, I am in utter disbelieve sometimes of how amazing blessed I am to have this opportunity.
All in all, all of the things I am doing feel intertwined and related. As I pursue my degree, work at the college and grow my business, I just want to continue pushing ahead and see all that the future has for me in photography and how I can expand my horizon and continue learning!
To you reading this: Thank you for your amazing support through all of this! I am blown away by the amazing people I have in my life supporting and backing me! New clients and friends found all the time, old friends sending encouraging messages and role models and mentors pushing me to be the best me. I could not do any of this without you! So please know that I am forever grateful to all of you, even if you are just here and reading my blog for the first time. Thank you! It is all because people take the time to discover new things that changes today and makes for a better tomorrow!
So here is to the finishing off this amazingly busy season as I complete my degree, finish up TAing for the semester and work with all the beautiful Christmas sessions and clients. May you all have an amazing season of love and giving!
I will be blogging again soon but for now, be blessed in all that you do and keep dreaming!
Thank you for all you do!
Call me a dreamer
